The weekend intensive this December was filled with great discussion of the Gita. I found the many opinions and interpretations of the book interesting. I can see how the many verses in the book can be taken literally or hold specific meaning to someone; however, I feel that it is a beautiful story that should be taken as a great piece of literature. When it is over analyzed, the simplistic meaning behind it gets lost. The story was written by men with ideas, not a god with answers and I don't take the doctrine to heart. I can appreciate the lessons it has to offer, and I do feel it was a great exercise to discuss all the different meanings everyone found in the text.
